Sipahijala: Nearly 150 contractors engaged under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Sipahijala district on Thursday submitted a deputation to Bishramganj DWS Executive Engineer Subir Das, demanding immediate release of their pending bills, which have remained unpaid for the past two years.
The contractors, visibly agitated after prolonged delays, appealed directly to the Chief Minister of the state to intervene and ensure the release of their dues at the earliest. They warned that continued non-payment could push them toward extreme steps, citing severe financial distress caused by the prolonged delay.
According to the contractors, work under the Jal Jeevan Mission had been completed as per schedule, but payments have not been processed despite repeated follow-ups with the department over the past two years. Many of them said they had exhausted personal resources and taken loans to complete the assigned projects, and the continued delay has left them in a precarious financial position.
The DWS office has not yet issued an official response to the deputation. Contractors said they would continue to escalate the matter if their demands are not addressed soon.
