Congress Charges Up: Street Protest Set for June 24

AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee today announced that it will launch a street protest in Agartala on June 24, as part of a series of agitational programmes against the state government.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at Agartala Congress Bhawan, where party chief spokesperson Pabir Chakraborty briefed the media in detail on the party’s upcoming course of action. He outlined the various programmes planned by the party in the coming days, with the June 24 protest march through the streets of Agartala forming the centrepiece of the announced agenda.

While detailing the schedule, Chakraborty is understood to have touched upon the issues that have prompted the party to take to the streets, signalling the Congress’s intent to keep up pressure on the ruling dispensation over matters affecting the public.

Party workers and leaders are expected to participate in large numbers in the June 24 protest, as the Congress looks to assert its presence and reinvigorate its cadre base ahead of the agitation.

Further details regarding the specific demands and the route of the protest march are awaited from the party leadership.
