Nagarban’s Night Secrets: Forest Guard’s Quarters Raided, Locals Catch More Than They Bargained For

TELIAMURA: A sensational incident unfolded late Friday night at Nagarban Park, run by the Forest Department, in the Gamaibari area under Ward No. 15 of Teliamura Municipal Council, after local residents detained a forest guard along with a few women found inside a room within the park premises.

According to locals, immoral activities had reportedly been taking place under cover of darkness inside the government-run park for a considerable period of time. Residents alleged that the forest guard frequently took advantage of the park’s secluded and quiet surroundings to indulge in illicit liaisons with women. On Friday night, locals claim to have got wind of the ongoing activities, launched a raid, and caught those involved red-handed.

Upon reaching the spot, it was found that the forest guard’s quarters were in a state of complete disarray, with numerous liquor bottles strewn across the floor — further fuelling public anger over such conduct taking place within government property.

On being informed, senior officials of the Forest Department rushed to the spot but found themselves facing the wrath of the gathered crowd. Subsequently, police from Teliamura police station arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and took the detained individuals into custody for questioning.

The incident, having occurred inside a Nagarban under the direct supervision of the Forest Department, has raised serious questions over the department’s monitoring and accountability mechanisms. Residents have demanded a thorough probe into the matter, asserting that if such activities had been continuing unchecked for long, the role of concerned officials cannot be ruled out. It remains to be seen what concrete action the Forest Department and district administration take in the wake of this incident.
