Airport PS OC Suspended for Refusing to Register Woman’s Complaint

Agartala: The state government has suspended Sushanta Deb, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Airport Police Station, following allegations that he refused to register a complaint filed by a woman identified as Jhuma Roy.

According to sources, Roy had approached the police station to lodge a complaint, which the OC allegedly declined to accept. The matter came to the notice of higher authorities, prompting the state government to take swift disciplinary action against the officer.

The suspension has been seen as a strong message from the administration regarding accountability of police personnel in handling complaints from the public, particularly those filed by women.

Further details regarding the nature of Roy’s original complaint, and whether any departmental inquiry has been ordered against OC Deb, are yet to be officially confirmed. Police headquarters is yet to issue a formal statement on the matter.

This is not the first instance in the state where police officers have faced action over complaint-handling lapses, an issue that continues to draw public and administrative scrutiny.
