SABROOM: A domestic dispute involving allegations of an extramarital affair turned violent in Sabroom subdivision over the weekend, leaving two people injured and triggering a police complaint.
According to a complaint filed by Mithun Chowdhury, his wife, Sampriti Das, had been staying at her parental home while he worked in Maharashtra. He alleged that she had developed a close relationship with Ratan Bal, a local resident and a jawan with TSR’s 9th Battalion. Chowdhury claimed that when he visited his in-laws’ house on Saturday to see his daughter, he found his wife and Bal in a compromising position.
He further alleged that upon raising objections, Bal, Das, and other family members attacked him and his elderly father with sticks and a broom, injuring both. Chowdhury claimed his father sustained a bite injury during the scuffle, and that the accused threatened him with serious consequences.
Both injured persons are undergoing treatment at Sabroom Hospital. A written complaint has been lodged at Sabroom police station, and police have initiated an investigation.
The accused have not yet presented their version of events. A video of the incident has reportedly circulated on social media, drawing public criticism.
