AGARTALA: After years of working as irregular employees in Group D posts under the Education Department without attaining regular status, six such employees have finally received an offer of regularisation, following directions from the Supreme Court.
The employees, who had been engaged in irregular capacities for a prolonged period despite continuous service, had long sought regularisation of their posts but remained unsuccessful through departmental channels. Their case eventually reached the Supreme Court, which directed the authorities to consider regularising their services.
Advocate Purushottam Roy Barman, who represented and assisted the employees in pursuing their legal battle, played a key role in securing the favourable outcome. Following the court’s directive, the Education Department issued the regularisation offer to the six employees concerned.
The development has been seen as a significant relief for the employees, who had endured years of uncertainty over their job status despite performing regular duties. It also adds to a growing list of cases where irregular government employees across departments in the state have approached the judiciary seeking redressal of long-pending service-related grievances.
