AGARTALA: World Hepatitis Day 2026 was observed at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan here, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attending the programme as the chief guest.
The event was organised to raise awareness about hepatitis, a viral infection that affects the liver, and to highlight the importance of prevention, timely diagnosis, and treatment in curbing its spread across the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister is understood to have emphasised the need for greater public awareness regarding hepatitis and reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and screening facilities to combat the disease effectively.
Health officials and experts present at the programme discussed various aspects of hepatitis prevention, including vaccination drives, safe medical practices, and the importance of regular health check-ups, particularly for high-risk groups.
The observance also served as a platform to review ongoing initiatives under the state’s health department aimed at controlling viral hepatitis and improving access to treatment for affected patients.
Senior officials from the Health Department, along with doctors and healthcare workers, attended the event, reaffirming their commitment to working towards a hepatitis-free Tripura.
The day is observed globally to spread awareness about the disease and promote efforts toward its elimination.
