UDAIPUR: Residents of the area around Chandrapur Food Godown in Udaipur staged a protest on Tuesday, expressing anger over the persistent foul smell emanating from garbage accumulated by the Udaipur Municipal Council, which they say has made life unbearable.
For the past two years, all garbage collected from the Udaipur municipal area has been dumped and stored at the Chandrapur Food Godown site, where it is processed into fertiliser using machines. Residents said the prolonged accumulation of waste has led to a severe stench spreading across the locality in recent days, forcing many to stay confined indoors.
Locals alleged that despite the issue being within the Municipal Council’s knowledge, no corrective action has been taken so far. They said labourers working at a nearby rice godown have also been struggling to carry out their duties due to the overpowering smell.
Left with no response from the authorities despite repeated concerns, residents gathered at the site on Tuesday to register their protest and demanded that the Municipal Council take immediate steps to address the problem.
Residents said they will continue to monitor the situation and expect swift action from the Municipal Council to resolve the sanitation crisis.
