AGARTALA: A bhoomi puja was held on Monday for the construction of Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Ward Office No. 34, to be built with modern infrastructure on Corporation-owned land opposite the Batala Mahashmashan.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Dipak Majumder, Ward No. 34 Corporator Jahnabi Das Chowdhury, Corporator Nitu Guha Dey, and others.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Majumder said the Corporation has undertaken an initiative to rebuild ward offices across the city that either lack their own premises or are housed in old, dilapidated structures. Ward Office No. 34 is being redeveloped as part of this drive.
He informed that 15 ward offices in Agartala have already been constructed under the initiative. The new offices will be equipped with modern infrastructure and proper facilities for civic service delivery, he said, adding that this will make it considerably easier for residents of the respective areas to access the Corporation’s various services.
The mayor reiterated the civic body’s commitment to upgrading ward-level infrastructure across the city, with more such projects planned in areas currently lacking adequate office facilities.
