Vehicle Used in Attack on Traffic ASI Seized, Accused Driver Still Absconding

Agartala: Police have seized the vehicle allegedly used to run over a traffic ASI during a vehicle-checking drive in the Battala area of the capital, even as the accused driver remains at large.

According to police, the officer was checking vehicles when the driver allegedly rammed him with the car in an attempt to flee the spot. The vehicle, bearing registration number TR 03 N 0775, has since been recovered by police.

Following the incident, State Police IG (Law & Order) Manchak Ippar visited Agartala West Police Station and held a high-level meeting with officials to review the case. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the IG said that an investigation is underway to identify and trace the person responsible for the attack.

Responding to questions from journalists, IG Ippar also commented on the recent spate of chain-snatching incidents reported in the capital, though further details of his remarks are awaited.

Police said further updates on the investigation, including the identity of the accused, are expected in the coming days.
