Bishalgarh: A mother and her young son sustained serious injuries on Thursday after being hit by a Maruti car on National Highway No. 8, in front of Satsang Ashram near Charilam Bazar.
According to locals, the mother, Papiya Debnath, was returning home with her son, Anish Debnath, after picking him up from Bishalgarh Anandamarg School when the car struck them on the highway.
The impact left both the mother and child with serious injuries. They were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment, though further details on their condition are yet to be confirmed.
The incident has once again raised concerns among local residents over road safety on the stretch of highway near Charilam Bazar, which sees heavy vehicular movement, particularly during school hours.
