AGARTALA: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has passed a resolution urging the Centre, the Tripura government and TIPRA to ensure time-bound implementation of the Tiprasa Accord.
The resolution calls on all three parties to work to a fixed timeline for delivering on the agreement, which is aimed at the overall development of the state’s indigenous communities.
The Tiprasa Accord was signed in March 2024 by TIPRA Motha, the Centre and the Tripura government. It was meant to address long-standing issues of the indigenous people, including history, land, political rights, economic development, identity, culture and language.
Implementation has remained a recurring point of contention. TIPRA Motha leaders have publicly pressed the Centre and the state government in recent months to begin rolling out the agreement without further delay.
The TTAADC administers nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area and is a key institution for tribal governance in the state. The resolution therefore carries symbolic weight, as the council places its voice on record in favour of a defined schedule for the Accord’s provisions.
