Tripura Youth Congress Submits Deputation to Human Rights Commission Against Alleged CRPF Assault

Agartala : A delegation of the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress on Wednesday submitted a deputation to the office of the Tripura Human Rights Commission, protesting against the alleged abusive behaviour and physical assault committed by a CRPF jawan, identified as Ram Kumar, during a recent agitation organised by the party.

The Youth Congress had earlier launched a movement demanding action over irregularities related to the NEET and CBSE question papers, alleging that lapses in the examination process had jeopardised the academic future of thousands of students across the state. During the course of this agitation, party workers claimed that a CRPF personnel, identified as Ram Kumar, used abusive and derogatory language against the protesting youth leaders and activists, and in the process, allegedly physically assaulted several of them.

Condemning the incident, the Youth Congress leaders said such conduct by security personnel deployed to maintain law and order was unacceptable and amounted to a gross violation of citizens’ fundamental rights. They alleged that instead of handling the peaceful protest with restraint, the CRPF jawan resorted to intimidation and violence against unarmed student activists.

In their memorandum to the Human Rights Commission, the delegation demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and strict disciplinary action against the personnel involved. They further urged the Commission to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future and that the rights of peaceful protesters are safeguarded.

The Youth Congress leaders also reiterated their demand for transparency in the NEET and CBSE examination process, asserting that the party would continue its agitation until the concerned authorities address the grievances raised by students and guardians across Tripura.

The Tripura Human Rights Commission has assured that the complaint will be examined in accordance with due process.
