AGARTALA: In a unique blend of religious celebration and social responsibility, the Tripura Transport Department organized its annual Vishwakarma Puja with ‘Road Safety’ as its central theme at the Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) headquarters in Agartala.
The main attraction of this year’s festivities was the array of educational and awareness-driven displays set up across the premises. Moving away from conventional decorations, the department used the platform to highlight critical commuting guidelines, including strict warnings against drunk driving, adhering to designated speed limits, mandatory helmet and seatbelt usage, and unconditional compliance with traffic laws to curve vehicular accidents.
Tripura’s Transport Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, attended the auspicious occasion along with his family members. The Minister offered prayers to the divine architect, Lord Vishwakarma, and spent time inspecting the various road safety exhibitions designed for public awareness.
Department officials noted that leveraging a major festival like Vishwakarma Puja—traditionally celebrated by drivers and mechanics—serves as an ideal vehicle to drive home the message of responsible driving directly to the public and transport workers alike, aiming for safer roads across the state.
