Agartala: Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress has strongly condemned the Tripura Nursing Council’s directive requiring all registered nurses to update their registration data within an extremely short timeframe, and submitted a formal deputation to the Director of Health Services demanding immediate relief.
The directive, issued vide Notice No. NO-4(233) TNCL 2024/575-77 dated July 10, 2026, has drawn sharp criticism from the youth wing of the Congress party, which argues that the tight deadline poses serious hardship for thousands of nurses currently employed outside the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Youth Congress leaders pointed out that due to the scarcity of employment opportunities in Tripura, a large number of registered nurses are working in hospitals and nursing homes across other states. With airfare, rail tickets, and other travel costs having risen sharply in recent times, returning to Tripura within such a short notice is both financially burdensome and logistically challenging for these nurses.
The organisation further noted that obtaining emergency leave from private hospitals and nursing homes on such short notice is nearly impossible, leaving many nurses at risk of missing the deadline and facing potential consequences to their registration status.
Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress has put forward two key demands before the Tripura Nursing Council — either launch an online portal for registration data updation immediately, or provide a reasonable extension of the deadline, ensuring that nurses working outside the state are not penalised for circumstances beyond their control.
The Director of Health Services has assured that the matter will be looked into.
