AGARTALA: The Tripura government is exploring a technology-based vehicle scanning system at the Churaibari check post on the Assam-Tripura border, Finance and Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said.
The proposed system would digitally record details of goods-laden vehicles entering the state, including information about the vehicle, its cargo, and the driver’s name and address, reducing the need for vehicles to halt unnecessarily at the check post. The data would be transmitted electronically to the state headquarters in Agartala, giving officials real-time access to interstate movement records. The minister said the system could serve a dual purpose — easing the passage of legitimate goods vehicles while strengthening surveillance, including monitoring the movement of illegal substances.
Singha Roy also outlined the state’s broader digital governance push. NextGen HRMS, developed by the Finance Department, is intended to serve as a single digital platform managing the complete service lifecycle of government employees, from onboarding to pension and treasury-linked payments. He said the e-Office platform has already been rolled out at various levels, including the Legislative Assembly and Panchayats, improving administrative efficiency and enabling faster, more transparent delivery of government services and welfare benefits.
