AGARTALA: The Tripura Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department has launched a comprehensive administrative review to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and prevent illegal hoarding ahead of the Durga Puja festivities.
A high-level coordination meeting, chaired by the department’s Principal Secretary, brought together major stakeholders, including LPG dealers, petroleum companies like IOCL and BPCL, merchant associations, District Magistrates, and police officials. Food Department Director Sumit Lodh emphasized that the government’s absolute priority is ensuring that consumers do not face artificial shortages or unreasonable price hikes during the high-demand festive period.
To check unfair trade practices, the government has directed enforcement agencies to take strict legal action against hoarding, black marketing, and overcharging. Logistical operations were also thoroughly examined, including mapping secure routes for supply vehicles to ensure seamless distribution across all districts. Officials expressed confidence that this synchronized effort between the state administration, law enforcement, and local distributors will effectively meet public needs while maintaining price stability across local markets throughout the celebrations.
