Tripura Child Rights Commission Launches Tree Plantation Drive on World Environment Day

AGARTALA: To mark World Environment Day, the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR) organized a widespread tree plantation drive on Friday. The environmental initiative covered multiple key locations, including five Anganwadi centers in the Jirania Block, the Narsingarh Old Age Home, and the Abhoynagar Children’s Home.

The plantation drive aimed to foster environmental awareness among children and community members while contributing to the state’s green cover. Smt. Jayanti Debbarma, Chairperson of the Commission, personally led the drive alongside other prominent dignitaries and child welfare officials.

During the event, variety of saplings were planted across the chosen institutional premises. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Debbarma emphasized the critical connection between a healthy environment and the holistic well-being of children. She urged institutional staff and the local youth to responsibly nurture the newly planted saplings.

The inclusion of the children’s home and the old age home highlighted an intergenerational effort to combat climate change, bringing smiles to both the young and elderly residents. The initiative by the Commission received widespread appreciation from local block administrations and environmental enthusiasts across the region.
