MANDWI: Local residents of the Mandwi Assembly constituency have expressed severe anger over the long-standing negligence of the critical road connecting Lalit Bazar to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, Borkha Hospital, and Patni. Despite repeated appeals, the vital stretch remains entirely neglected by the concerned department.
The road has transformed into a hazardous track riddled with massive potholes. The situation has intensified with the arrival of the monsoon season. Severe waterlogging in these craters has turned the stretch into a virtual death trap, significantly increasing the risk of major accidents for commuters and emergency vehicles heading toward the hospital.
What frustrates locals the most is the regular administrative movement on this route. Senior block officials, local MLA Swapna Debbarma, and various public representatives frequently use this very road for their travel, yet the ground reality remains completely unchanged.
Slamming the absolute apathy of the authorities, the public has issued an urgent ultimatum to the local administration and the Public Works Department (PWD). They demand immediate intervention and comprehensive repair work before a fatal accident takes place.
