GANGANAGAR: Three minor girls from Niyamjoy Para under Ganganagar police station in Dhalai district have been safely rescued from Gujarat after allegedly being trafficked on the pretext of job offers, police said.
According to police sources, the girls were allegedly taken out of the state by Mukesh Reang, a youth from the same locality, who reportedly promised them employment outside Tripura. A case was registered at Ganganagar police station following a complaint by the victims’ families, triggering an investigation.
Tracking mobile phone locations, investigators traced the accused’s route from Agartala to Ahmedabad via Kolkata and alerted police at Amda police station in Gujarat. In a swift joint operation, four persons, including the three minors, were detained.
A police team led by Ganganagar Sub-Inspector Swapan Debbarma has reached Gujarat, and efforts are underway to bring the accused to Tripura on transit remand.
Dhalai Additional Superintendent of Police Uttam Banik credited the successful rescue to close coordination between Gujarat Police and Tripura Police, stating that inter-state cooperation helped secure the girls’ safe recovery within a short time.
