Three members of a family were found dead in mysterious circumstances at their residence in West Muhuripur area under Shantir Bazar subdivision, in an incident that has left the locality in shock.
The bodies of Shankar Chakraborty, his wife Chhabi Chakraborty, and their son Krishna Chakraborty were discovered at the family’s home. While the parents were found with injuries, their son was found dead in a separate manner in the same room, prompting speculation among locals about the sequence of events, though the exact cause remains officially unconfirmed.
Police from Baikhora and Belonia stations, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police, South District, rushed to the spot upon receiving information and have launched an investigation into the deaths.
Speaking to media persons, Krishna’s brother, Mithun Chakraborty, recounted the events leading up to the discovery, stating that his brother had returned home early from work that day and later sent him on an errand. On returning, Mithun found the house locked from inside and, after receiving no response to repeated calls, discovered the bodies through a rear window.
Mithun alleged that his brother’s court marriage to a woman, which was reportedly opposed by the woman’s family, may be linked to the tragedy, though he maintained there had been no discord within his own family. He attributed the deaths to the woman’s relatives, an allegation that remains unverified pending investigation.
Police have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the deaths.
