Agartala:Teliamura MLA and Chief Whip of the Tripura State Legislative Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, had a dramatic narrow escape from a major road accident on Monday when a Bolero pickup vehicle lost control and crashed into her car in the Baramura hill area while she was travelling from Agartala to Teliamura. The incident has sent shock waves across political circles in the state.
According to information received, the MLA’s vehicle was proceeding towards Teliamura when a Bolero pickup vehicle, coming from the opposite direction, lost control while negotiating a sharp turn in the hilly terrain of the Baramura area and collided with tremendous force into the MLA’s car. The impact of the collision was severe, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
As a result of the accident, the MLA’s driver sustained injuries and was immediately attended to. MLA Kalyani Saha Roy herself, along with her two security personnel and her personal assistant, also suffered minor injuries in the collision. The sudden and violent nature of the crash left those present at the scene in a state of shock.
Local residents and security personnel at the scene acted swiftly, rescuing the injured and providing immediate assistance. On receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Champanagar Outpost Police rushed to the spot without delay. The offending Bolero pickup vehicle was seized by the police and taken to the station for further proceedings.
News of the accident spread rapidly, creating considerable commotion and concern among the public and political fraternity alike. It has since been confirmed that all those involved in the accident are currently safe and out of danger.
Police have registered a case and launched a formal investigation into the circumstances that led to the accident, including whether the Bolero driver was negligent or overspeeding on the treacherous hill road.
