Jampui Hills: Responding to media reports, representatives of the Tripura State Women’s Commission on Monday visited the residence of an elderly woman who was allegedly assaulted by her son in Jampui Hills.
State Women’s Commission Chairperson Jharna Debbarma and Commission Member Ratna Debnath Kar visited the home of Roshanara Khatun, a widowed and physically disabled elderly woman, at Lunthaichhara under Ward No. 4 of Gulirai Bari village in Jampui Hill Block.
During the visit, the Commission members interacted with the victim and enquired about her health and overall condition. They assured her that efforts would be made to ensure she receives the benefits of all eligible government welfare schemes and necessary assistance.
The Commission’s visit came after reports of the alleged assault drew public attention. The officials stated that they would continue to monitor the matter and extend all possible support to the elderly woman in accordance with the law and available government provisions.
