Smart Classroom, Shaky Ceiling: Dharmanagar School Building Raises Concern

Dharmanagar: Allegations have surfaced of plaster falling from the ceilings of several classrooms at the prestigious Bir Bikram Institution here, raising concerns over the condition of the school’s smart classroom building, which was constructed only a few years ago.

According to sources, the plaster has reportedly been peeling off in multiple classrooms, exposing the ceiling and raising safety concerns among students, parents, and teaching staff. The building, which houses the school’s smart classrooms, was constructed as part of efforts to modernise infrastructure and improve learning facilities.

Parents and local residents have reportedly questioned the quality of construction, alleging that a relatively new building should not show such signs of deterioration. Some have called for an inspection into the matter to ascertain whether the issue stems from substandard construction materials or lack of maintenance.

Education department officials have not yet issued an official statement on the matter. Efforts are underway to reach concerned authorities for comment on the extent of the damage and any corrective measures planned.

Students and guardians have urged the administration to undertake immediate repair work to prevent any untoward incident, given that the affected classrooms remain in regular use.
