AGARTALA: In a major breach of security, two youths were arrested by Agartala police following a late-night intrusion and alleged misconduct at the girls’ hostel of National Law University (NLU) Tripura.
The incident, which occurred late at night, triggered immediate panic among the boarders. According to police sources, the two accused scaled the boundary wall, bypassed the security personnel, and managed to enter the girls’ hostel premises. Once inside, they allegedly engaged in misconduct, causing a massive commotion.
Alert students immediately raised an alarm, prompting the hostel management and university authorities to intervene and alert the local police. A police team rushed to the campus and apprehended both individuals from the spot before they could flee.
The security lapse has sparked severe outrage among the student community, who have questioned the university’s safety protocols for female boarders. Following the incident, the NLU Tripura administration promised a stringent review of campus security, including increasing the number of guards and upgrading CCTV surveillance.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections concerning trespassing and harassment. A senior police official assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine how the security perimeter was breached so easily.
