AGARTALA: Members of the CPI(M) Dukli Sub-Divisional Area Committee on Friday submitted a deputation to the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), raising a series of demands concerning the poor condition of roads and other civic issues in the Dukli area.
The deputation, organized under the banner of the area committee, highlighted long-pending grievances of local residents over deteriorating road infrastructure, which party leaders said has caused continuing hardship for commuters and residents alike.
DYFI state president Nabarun Dev was among those present during the submission of the deputation, lending support to the demands raised by the local committee.
Party workers said the deputation reiterated calls for urgent repair and maintenance of damaged stretches of road in the region, along with other civic amenities that have reportedly been neglected despite repeated representations to the authorities.
CPI(M) leaders said they would continue to pursue the matter through democratic means and warned of intensified agitation if the PWD failed to act on the demands within a reasonable timeframe.
The Chief Engineer is yet to issue an official response regarding the demands placed before the department.
