Press Conference Held on Drug-Free Pledge Week

Agartala: West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar organised a press conference today to brief the media on the upcoming “Drug-Free Pledge Week” to be observed in the district.

Addressing reporters, the District Magistrate outlined the schedule and objectives of the week-long programme, which aims to raise awareness among citizens, particularly the youth, about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life. He stated that various activities, including pledge-taking ceremonies, awareness rallies, and sensitisation programmes, would be conducted across schools, colleges, and public institutions in the district during the week.

Dr. Kumar emphasised that the district administration, in collaboration with various departments, NGOs, and educational institutions, would work collectively to spread the message of a drug-free society. He urged citizens, especially parents and teachers, to play an active role in guiding young people away from substance abuse.

The District Magistrate also highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to curb the supply and circulation of intoxicants in the district, stating that the Drug-Free Pledge Week would complement these enforcement measures with a strong focus on public awareness and community participation.

The press conference concluded with an appeal to all stakeholders to actively participate in the initiative.
