Pineapple Goes Global: Tripura Showcases Golden Fruit in Delhi

AGARTALA: The Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 was inaugurated today at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, marking a major push to showcase the state’s signature crop on the national and international stage.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by Union Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region Dr. Sukanta Majumdar and Tripura’s Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Ratan Lal Nath, among other dignitaries.

The festival aims to promote Tripura’s Queen pineapple, known for its GI (Geographical Indication) tag, by connecting local farmers and producers with national and global markets. The event is expected to feature stalls, trade discussions, and promotional activities highlighting the state’s pineapple cultivation, processing, and export potential over the coming days.

Officials hope the festival will boost investment and demand for Tripura’s pineapple industry, which has emerged as a key agricultural export in recent years.
