Sabroom: A passenger bus travelling from Sabroom to Agartala narrowly escaped a major accident on Wednesday morning after it lost control and veered off the road near Birendranagar Bazar, alongside the national highway.
The incident occurred at around 10:55 a.m. when the bus, carrying several passengers, suddenly went out of control near the market area and skidded off the carriageway. The sudden mishap caused panic among commuters and onlookers in the vicinity.
Soon after the incident, fire department personnel from Shantirbazar rushed to the spot to assess the situation and assist those on board. According to officials from the fire service, despite the bus carrying a considerable number of passengers, no one sustained serious injuries in the accident. Both the driver and passengers had a narrow escape from what could have turned into a major tragedy.
Local residents who gathered at the scene helped passengers disembark safely, while traffic along the stretch was briefly affected before normalcy was restored.
Police have reached the spot and launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary suspicion pointing to a possible technical or driving error. Further details are awaited.
