AGARTALA: A vibrant rally wound through the streets of Agartala on Friday to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking-2026, organised jointly by the West Tripura District Administration and the District Social Education Officer.
Carrying the slogan “Eso Sabai Shapath Kori, Madak Mukto Rajya Gori” (Let us all take a pledge, let us build a drug-free state), participants marched through the city streets in a colourful show of unity against narcotics abuse.
Minister Tinku Roy attended the event along with other dignitaries, lending official weight to the administration’s renewed push against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.
The rally forms part of a broader awareness drive timed to coincide with the global observance, which is marked annually to highlight the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of international cooperation in combating illicit trafficking.
Officials reiterated the administration’s commitment to making Tripura drug-free, urging citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from narcotics and join hands with authorities in the fight against substance abuse.
