Outsider at the Desk: Mohanpur SDM Office Security Under Scanner

AGARTALA: An unauthorised outsider was found operating from the PA and PS section of the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office on Tuesday afternoon, using government computers and furniture in the absence of office staff, triggering concerns over administrative security.

The individual, identified as a lawyer and reportedly the husband of the SDM’s Personal Assistant, Ruchi Dutta, was allegedly found seated at the office workstation despite not being an employee of the department.

When confronted by journalists, the man reportedly reacted aggressively before admitting on camera that he was using the government computer to work on a personal Section 107 case. He further claimed to have permission from senior authorities to be present.

The incident has raised serious questions over data security at the office, given that sensitive citizen records, including Aadhaar and PRTC-related information, are handled at the SDM’s office.

Local residents have expressed outrage over the alleged breach of protocol, demanding accountability and questioning whether the Sub-Divisional Magistrate was aware of the irregularity.
