Agartala: Residents of Subal Singh Rabicharan Para, under Hejamara Block in Mohanpur subdivision, continue to face daily hardship due to the absence of a proper road and bridge connecting their locality, forcing them to cross a river on foot to reach the outside world.
With no iron bridge or motorable road in place, schoolchildren, patients, and elderly residents are compelled to wade through the river regularly. The lack of connectivity also means ambulances and fire service vehicles cannot access the area in emergencies, leaving residents vulnerable during medical crises or fire incidents.
Locals said they have repeatedly appealed to the administration and elected representatives over the years, but their demands have gone unaddressed. According to residents, successive governments have made promises to build a road and bridge, but none have followed through with concrete action.
Frustrated by the prolonged neglect, villagers spoke to the media to highlight their plight, describing the daily risk they take while crossing the river and the isolation the area faces during emergencies.
They have renewed their appeal to the government, urging immediate steps to construct a proper road and bridge to ensure safe and reliable connectivity for the area’s residents.
