KAILASHAHAR: A special awareness programme on rescue operations during water accidents was held today at Shatarupa Ghat, near Sriramgur Bridge, on the banks of the Manu River.
The programme was jointly organised by the Sub-Divisional Administration, Kailashahar, and the 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), stationed at Kumarghat, with the objective of raising public awareness on disaster preparedness and emergency rescue. It was held from 11 am to 2 pm.
Participants were briefed on the necessary steps to be taken during water accidents, along with live demonstrations of emergency rescue techniques and general safety guidelines for the public. NDRF personnel reportedly conducted hands-on training sessions as part of the exercise.
District Magistrate Megha Jain (IAS) attended the programme along with other district officials.
Officials said such initiatives are aimed at strengthening community-level disaster response and equipping local residents with basic rescue skills ahead of the monsoon season, when water-related accidents are more common in the region.
