MP Rajib Bhattacharjee Inspects Drainage Infrastructure in Agartala’s Ward 30

AGARTALA: In a proactive move to address urban waterlogging issues ahead of the peak monsoon season, Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee conducted a thorough inspection of the drainage system in Ward No. 30 under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC).

Accompanied by local corporators and senior municipal engineers, MP Bhattacharjee walked through several vulnerable pockets of the ward to assess the structural integrity and flow capacity of the main drains. The visit comes amid growing concerns from residents regarding flash floods and stagnant water during heavy downpours, which have historically disrupted daily life and business in the area.

During the inspection, Bhattacharjee instructed the civic authorities to expedite desiltation work and clear any blockages hampering the smooth passage of rainwater. He emphasized the need for a long-term engineering solution rather than temporary fixes.

Interacting with the local residents, the MP assured them that the central and state governments are committed to modernizing Agartala’s urban infrastructure. He stated that a comprehensive plan is being drawn up to upgrade the city’s drainage network, ensuring that low-lying areas like Ward 30 remain resilient against seasonal flooding.
