Bamutia:A controversy has erupted in the South Rangutia area of Rangutia village under West Bamutia Gram Panchayat over allegations that a newly sanctioned road is being diverted from its approved route to benefit a few local ruling-party functionaries.
According to residents, the PWD had issued a work order for a road connecting the area near Akali Mandal’s house to Achalmoni Biswas’s house. However, locals alleged that certain local leaders attempted to alter the road’s course to pass through their own land and residences for personal benefit, with earthwork reportedly already carried out in the diverted direction.
When residents discovered the alleged deviation, they raised objections and brought the matter to public attention. Following the protest, the local MLA visited the site along with residents to inspect the situation firsthand. After the inspection, the MLA demanded that construction proceed strictly in accordance with the originally sanctioned work order, rejecting any unauthorized alteration to the route.
Residents welcomed the MLA’s intervention and reiterated their demand that the road be built as per the official plan, without favouring any individual’s interest at the cost of the community’s needs.
