SABROOM: The death of a 15-year-old girl under suspicious circumstances in the Chhotokhil Bijoynagar area under Sabroom Police Station has prompted a police and forensic investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Apsara Garh, a Class X student of Bijoynagar High School and daughter of Sukanta Garh. Police said news of the unnatural death was received from Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital late Monday night, following which an investigation was launched based on information from the scene and hospital records.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. Given the sensitivity of the case, a forensic team from Belonia district headquarters visited the site and collected evidence to help establish the circumstances of the death.
Sabroom SI Kanu Ranjan Deb said the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the post-mortem and forensic reports are received, adding that no definitive comment could be made until the investigation concludes.
Police have not ruled out any angle at this stage and said further details would be shared once the probe is complete.
