Marathon Momentum: Agartala Gears Up for Third All India Half Marathon

AGARTALA: Egiye Cholo Sangha, in association with the Tripura Athletics Association, will organize the All India Half Marathon for the third consecutive year on the occasion of Mahalaya, October 10, officials announced.

The race will flag off at 6 AM from the Egiye Cholo Sangha Club at Mela Ground, covering a 21-kilometre route for men and 10 kilometres for women. Runners will proceed towards Ranirbazar before returning along the designated route to finish at the starting point.

Both male and female categories are open to participants, with the top ten finishers in each receiving cash prizes — Rs 15,000 for first place and Rs 12,000 for second, besides awards for other placeholders.

Organizers said the event has already generated widespread enthusiasm across the state, with participants and athletes expected from outside Tripura as well, building on the strong response seen in previous editions.

Egiye Cholo Sangha secretary Sumanta Gupta said the club remains committed to community welfare and sports development, having previously supported underprivileged families through relief distribution and other initiatives. He added that encouraging local sporting talent alongside social responsibility programmes continues to be the organization’s core objective.
