JIRANIA: A road connecting Mandai to Chakbasta and Bhubanchantai, built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Mandai block under Jirania sub-division, has fallen into disrepair barely six months after being repaired, prompting anger among local residents.
Locals alleged that the road had been repaired using substandard materials and poor construction practices, a concern they claim they had raised at the time of the repair work itself. However, they alleged that the construction company ignored their objections due to its high-handed conduct, and the road has now deteriorated once again within a short span.
Speaking to the media, residents demanded that the road be repaired afresh, expressing frustration over what they described as the recurring failure of contractors to ensure durable infrastructure under the centrally sponsored rural roads scheme.
The development has raised questions over quality control and monitoring mechanisms in the execution of PMGSY projects in the area, with residents calling for accountability from the construction agency concerned.
