Left Front Delegation Meets Governor Over DGP’s Death; Jitendra Chowdhury Briefs Media

AGARTALA: A delegation of the Left Front called on the Governor on Tuesday in connection with the death of State Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, who was found dead at the Police Headquarters in Agartala.

Following the meeting, Left Front leader Jitendra Chowdhury faced the media outside the Raj Bhavan and spoke at length on the matter, addressing questions from journalists gathered at the scene.

Dhankar, a 1994-batch IPS officer, was found dead inside his office chamber at the Police Headquarters, in what authorities have described as a suspected case of suicide. He was rushed to G B Pant Hospital, where he was declared dead. A post-mortem examination and a detailed police and forensic investigation into the circumstances of his death have since been ordered.

The incident sent shockwaves through the state’s administrative and political circles, prompting Chief Minister Manik Saha and other senior officials to visit the Police Headquarters soon after the news broke.

The Left Front’s meeting with the Governor comes amid growing public and political attention on the case, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
