Agartala: Lalbahadur Byayamagar will square off against defending champions Forward Club on August 17 in the knockout round of the Nilajyoti Rakhal Shield football tournament, organised by the Tripura Football Association.
Ahead of the high-stakes encounter, club officials held a press conference at the Lalbahadur Byayamagar club premises on Sunday evening, where jerseys were formally handed over to the players.
Addressing the gathering, club president Pranab Sarkar said the team had been assembled with a clear objective of clinching titles in both the knockout tournament and the league. He expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation and determination to go all the way this season.
In line with that ambition, the players had commenced rigorous practice sessions from August 7 under the guidance of coach Liton Majumder, focusing on building the fitness and coordination needed to challenge a strong Forward Club side.
With Forward Club entering the tie as reigning shield champions, Sunday’s clash promises to be a keenly contested affair. Football enthusiasts in the region are expected to closely follow the fixture as the tournament progresses through its knockout stages.
