KAILASHAHAR: In a major push to combat the spread of measles and safeguard child health, a massive public awareness rally was organized on Tuesday morning outside the Unakoti Kalakshetra. The campaign was spearheaded by the ‘Be Fit and Fit Others Social Organization’ in joint collaboration with the District Health & Family Welfare Society.
Beginning at 7:00 AM, the rally saw a large turnout of healthcare workers, volunteers, social activists, and local residents. Participants marched through key thoroughfares of the town, carrying vibrant banners and placards with messages like: “Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles” and “The power to protect your child is in your hands.”
Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy and Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharya attended the event, highlighting the severe complications the highly contagious viral disease can cause in children. “Measles is entirely preventable, but timing is everything,” health officials noted, urging parents to strictly follow the national immunization schedule for the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine.
The organizers concluded by stating that hygiene protocols and community-level awareness remain their strongest weapons, promising a sustained campaign until the disease is fully eradicated from the region.
