Kumarghat: A wave of panic and intense suspense gripped the Bhati Dudhpur area under Kumarghat Police Station on Friday evening after an unidentified man’s body was found floating in a local pond near Kalibari. The gruesome nature of the discovery has left local authorities and residents suspecting foul play.
According to local sources, the corpse was recovered with a thick rope securely bound around it, tethered to a massive stone. Eyewitnesses and investigators strongly believe the stone was intentionally weighted down to prevent the body from floating to the surface, pointing toward a meticulous, premeditated murder plot.
While the body remains officially unidentified, police sources revealed that a missing person’s diary was recently filed at the nearby Fatikroy Police Station. Preliminary assessments indicate the physical features closely match the missing individual.
Due to the overlap, teams from the Fatikroy Police Station have been summoned to the site to assist local Kumarghat police in the identification process. While a section of locals suspects suicide, the heavy stone binding makes murder the primary angle of probe. The police are withholding definitive statements pending the autopsy report.
