AGARTALA: The foundation stone was laid and Bhumi Pujan performed on Tuesday for the installation of a statue of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Town Hall here.
The ceremony forms part of the ongoing state-wide observance of Dr. Mukherjee’s 125th birth anniversary, with several tribute programmes being organised across Tripura to honour the legacy of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder.
The event marked the beginning of construction work for the statue, intended to stand as a permanent tribute to Dr. Mukherjee at the venue that already bears his name.
