Foundation Laid for Waterbody Development Project at Durga Chowmuhani

Agartala: The foundation stone for a waterbody development project was laid at Durga Chowmuhani (Ramthakur Lane) area, behind New Star Club, under Ward No. 18 of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), on Friday.

Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumder laid the foundation stone at a bhoomi puja ceremony held at the site. Deputy Mayor Monika Das, along with other elected representatives of the Municipal Corporation and several eminent persons, attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, civic officials said the project would focus on the beautification and overall development of the waterbody in the area, which has long been in need of upgradation. Once completed, the project is expected to benefit local residents in multiple ways, including improved civic amenities and enhanced aesthetics of the neighbourhood.

The initiative forms part of the AMC’s broader efforts to develop and maintain water bodies across the city, several of which have been taken up under various civic beautification and environmental schemes in recent times.

Local residents welcomed the move, expressing hope that the redeveloped waterbody would add to the visual appeal of the locality while also serving practical civic purposes for the ward.
