Harina: A new development initiative for the Jagannath Jiu Temple in Harina got underway today as local MLA Jitendra Chowdhury formally laid the foundation stone for the temple’s development project this morning.
Under the initiative, developmental works at the temple will be carried out at an estimated cost of nearly ₹8.38 lakh, to be funded from the MLA’s Local Area Development Fund.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by Swapan Sarkar, President of the Temple Committee, along with the committee’s secretary, other committee members, elected public representatives, and a large number of devotees from the locality.
Speaking on the occasion, various dignitaries said that once completed, the project would not only enhance the temple’s infrastructure but also give fresh momentum to religious and social activities in the area. They noted that the initiative fulfils a long-standing demand of the local community.
The commencement of the development work was met with visible satisfaction among residents, many of whom have awaited such infrastructural improvement to the temple for a considerable period.
Officials associated with the project expressed hope that the development works would be completed within the stipulated timeframe, further strengthening the religious and cultural significance of the site for the local populace.
