Agartala:Acting on directives from the Chief Minister, East Police Station launched a crackdown on drug-related activities, detaining 23 individuals from various locations allegedly involved in the buying and selling of narcotics as well as drug consumption.
The operation was carried out as part of intensified anti-narcotics measures across the police station’s jurisdiction, with personnel conducting checks at multiple spots to round up those allegedly linked to the drug trade.
Officer-in-Charge of East Police Station, Krishnadal Sarkar, said such operations would be carried out strictly and regularly in the area going forward, warning that no leniency would be shown towards those involved in drug peddling or consumption.
The OC added that the crackdown is aimed at curbing the growing drug menace in the region, and that police would continue to keep a close watch on suspected individuals and locations linked to narcotics activity.
Police sources said further legal action would be initiated against those detained, based on the nature of their involvement in the racket.
The operation is being seen as part of a broader statewide push against drug trafficking and substance abuse, following directions from the state’s top leadership to tighten enforcement across all police station areas.
