AGARTALA: Police have arrested a domestic worker in connection with the alleged theft of a gold chain and cosmetics items from a residence in the Akhaura Road area.
West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sanjit Sen told the media on Tuesday that a local resident, Pritidas Chowdhury, had filed a complaint alleging that a gold chain and cosmetics items were stolen from her house. A case was registered at the West Police Station following the complaint.
Acting on the allegation, police from the Battala outpost launched an investigation. Based on leads gathered during the inquiry, the domestic worker was detained from the Akhaura Road area and brought in for questioning.
According to police, a gold chain weighing 12 grams — with an estimated market value of approximately ₹2 lakh — along with the allegedly stolen cosmetics items, was recovered from her possession during interrogation.
Police said the arrested woman would be produced before the court on Tuesday.
