Dhyan Chand’s Son Ashok Kumar Singh Graces Para Olympic Felicitation in Agartala

Agartala: Sports Correspondent, Agartala, August 30: The Tripura Para Olympic Association on Saturday organised a special felicitation ceremony in Agartala, honouring several distinguished personalities from the world of sports.

Arjuna Award-winning Olympian Ashok Kumar Singh, son of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, attended as the special guest, lending the event a memorable touch. Two celebrated para-Olympians from outside the state, Rahul Gupta and Pratim Gupta, were also felicitated on the occasion, drawing warm applause from the audience.

Adding further weight to the proceedings was the presence of Tripura Olympic Association secretary Sujit Roy, whose attendance underlined the significance of the event within the state’s sporting circles.

The ceremony formed part of the association’s broader mission to promote the overall development of para-sports in Tripura and to encourage athletes with special needs. Tripura Para Olympic Association president Dr. Kanak Chowdhury and secretary Swapan Sarkar, along with several other office-bearers, were present at the event.

Speakers on the occasion highlighted the need for greater infrastructure and support systems for para-athletes in the state, urging stakeholders to work collectively toward nurturing emerging talent from Tripura in national and international para-sporting arenas.
