DHALAI: A review meeting on the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) was held at the conference hall of the Dhalai District Magistrate’s office, chaired by the State Election Commissioner and the Director General of Police, Tripura.
The meeting is part of a series of district-level reviews being held ahead of polling for the 587 Village Committees across the state’s autonomous district council areas, scheduled for September 28. Counting of votes is slated for October 5, with the entire election process expected to conclude by October 8.
Officials reviewed security and administrative preparedness in Dhalai district, one of the eight districts going to the polls, with district authorities briefed on arrangements for peaceful and smooth conduct of voting.
Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies have already begun arriving in the state to strengthen security ahead of the polls, with joint patrolling by CAPF, state police and Tripura State Rifles personnel planned in sensitive areas across the ADC region.
