Agartala: The Dhalai District and Sessions Court has sentenced a youth to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting him of raping a minor girl. Judge Dhiman Debbarma pronounced the verdict against the convict, identified as Bijoy Ghosh.
The incident occurred at Chittaranjan Para under Manu Police Station in Longtarai Valley subdivision. Following a police investigation and trial, the court found Ghosh guilty of the offence and handed down the sentence under relevant provisions of law.
The verdict has been seen as a significant step in ensuring justice in cases of crimes against minors, with the court’s decision expected to serve as a deterrent against such offences in the region.
